Accounting advisory in Syria: accurate numbers for your company, on time

When financial statements arrive weeks late, or sales shows one figure and accounts another, the problem is usually the system, not the people. We redesign your accounting system, from the chart of accounts to the month-end close, so your decisions rest on numbers you trust.

Context

Signs your accounting system is no longer enough

If two or more of these apply to your company, it has probably grown faster than its accounting system.

  • Your financial statements arrive late, so today's decisions rest on old numbers.
  • Sales gives you one figure, accounts another, and no one knows which is right.
  • You cannot see the profit of each branch, product line or project separately.
  • Money goes out first and the paperwork follows, with no clear approval before a purchase.
  • You bought accounting software, yet reports are still built by hand in Excel.

Built for large companies and family groups whose business has grown across branches or companies, and for investors who want reliable numbers from the companies they hold stakes in.

Impact

What changes in your company when we finish

Your company runs one accounting system on written rules. The books close on a fixed date each month, and the statements and management reports you receive agree across departments. Each business unit's results are visible. Every payment has an approval and a document behind it. Your finance team runs the system without us, because we built it with them, not instead of them.

Scope

What the work covers

01

Diagnosis of your current system

We review your journal entries, reports, software and team routines, and find where the numbers are delayed and why they disagree, before proposing any change.

02

Chart of accounts and cost centres

We design a chart of accounts around your business, with cost centre accounting and clear allocation rules that show the profit of each branch or project.

03

A clear document flow

We map every transaction from purchase request to payment, and from sales order to collection: which document, who approves, and when it is recorded.

04

Month-end close and financial statements

We set a month-end close calendar listing each task, reconciliation and owner, and design the management reports you use to follow performance and cash.

05

Internal controls

We define the core controls: segregation of duties, spending approval limits, and regular cash and stock counts, protecting the company's money without slowing operations.

Frequently asked questions

What should a chart of accounts include?
It starts with one question: which numbers does management need? It is then built in clear levels for assets, liabilities, equity, income and expenses, and linked to cost centres. We do not copy a ready-made chart: one that ignores how your business works produces reports nobody uses.
What is a document flow, and why does a company need one?
A document flow is the path every financial transaction follows: the document that starts it, who reviews and approves it, and when it is recorded. Without one, money leaves with no documented trail and month-end reconciliation becomes hard. It is the foundation of any internal control system.
Why is our month-end close always late, and how do we speed it up?
The close is usually late because documents come in late, reconciliations are left to month-end, and no one has a clear task and deadline. We address this with a disciplined document flow, a written close calendar, and bank reconciliations and account checks done during the month, not after it.
Which internal controls does a growing company need?
The controls that protect the company's money and the accuracy of its numbers: segregation of duties, so no single person requests, approves and pays; clear spending approval limits; regular cash and stock counts; and routine account reconciliations. They should fit your company's size, not slow the business down.
What is the difference between accounting advisory and an external audit?
An external audit is carried out by an independent auditor, who gives an opinion on financial statements after they are prepared. Accounting advisory comes first: we build the system, procedures and controls that produce those statements. NAWA is an advisory firm and does not provide statutory audit services.
